History Of General Hospital, Gbagada
General Hospital, Gbagada (GBGH), was established on Tuesday, 27th of September, 1983 by the then Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande, during the second republic. The Hospital is strategically located at the T-junction of 3 (Three) major expressways; Victoria Island through 3rd Mainland Bridge, Lagos – Ibadan Expressway, and Badagry/Apapa Oshodi Expressway.
This makes the hospital easily accessible throughout the length and breadth of Lagos State.
In all, the hospital has about thirty-five departments, which includes a veritable Burns and Trauma tertiary center supervised by Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH); a maternal and paediatric department, as well as, Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative Cardio Renal Centre, amongst others within the premises.
At the helm of the hospital management is Dr. Adeleke Adesola Kaka, who is assisted in the running of the hospital operation’s, is a vibrant and proactive Health Management Committee supported by highly effective and efficient Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, Support and Administration Staff.
The hospital which covers an area of 11.3 hectares also has spacious parking spaces, and has 24 hours power supply.
We have an array of shops catering for the basic needs of visitors, patients and staff to the hospital.
For the convenience of visitors to the hospital, we have two functional and always clean public toilets strategically placed for both male and female visitors. This is in addition to toilets in the various departments of the hospital.
The hospital also boasts of one of the best mortuary services (privately run) in the state.

Our Management
PROFILE OF DR.ADELEKE ADESOLA KAKA
Dr. Adeleke Adesola Kaka was born on the 28th of February, 1968 and had his primary school education and certificate at Ansar-ud-deen Primary School, Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State in 1979, before proceeding to Government Teacher’s College, Epe from 1980 – 1982. He also attended Methodist Secondary Commercial College, Sagamu, where he had his West African School Certificate in 1985.
From 1986 to 1992, he was at the University of Lagos, where he obtained his Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery degree.
He had his medical housemanship training at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Idi-Araba, Lagos from 1992 -1994, after which he served as a Medical Officer at the State Hospital, Ota, for his youth corp in 1995.
In 1995, he started his medical and working career as a Medical Officer at Maryland Medical Centre, before joining Ayinke House Maternity, Ikeja, in 1996, till the year 2000, when as a Senior Medical Officer, he joined Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Lagos as Registrar in the Obstetrics/Gynaecology Department.
He bagged the Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) in October 2006, and became a consultant obstetrician/Gynaecologist at the Orile-Agege General Hospital, Agege, in March 2007, for five years.
From July 2012 to June 2013, he worked as Consultant Special Grade II, and Head of Department, Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at Onikan Health Centre, Lagos.
Also as a Consultant Special Grade II Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, he headed the Obstetrician and Gynaecologist of Randle General Hospital from February 2014 to April 2017, from whence he became Acting Medical Director of the same hospital.
From July 2017 to January 7, 2019, he was the MD/CEO of Harvey Road Health Centre and Maternity, Yaba, Lagos. He was appointed as Medical Director/CEO of General Hospital, Gbagada on 07/01/2019.,
Dr.Kaka, has had advanced training in the field of sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. He has attended various leadership courses in healthcare. He is an alumnus of the Healthcare Leadership Academy (HLA)
He is a devout Muslim, and happily married with children
