The department:

1. Ensures there is adequate water supply to the hospital
2. Ensures there is regular power supply to the hospital
3. Ensures optimal use, and operation of various hospital equipment that includes; surgical instruments, autoclaves, and all other equipment. 
4. Monitor, manages, supervises and repair hospital equipment, troubleshooting for solutions including hospital building and structure. 
5. Implements the realistic definition of preventive and corrective maintenance schedules of all hospital equipment, building, and structure. 

The department is made up of three distinct levels.

1. Engineer
2. Technical
3. Craftsmen

The Engineering Department is also made of various sections. These are:-

1. Electrical
2. Mechanical
3. Refrigerator/Aircondition
4. Plumbing
5. Welding
6. Bricklaying
7. Carpentry
8. Tailoring.
