The Pathology/Laboratory Services Department is divided into 4 units i.e. the Haematology and Blood transfusion, Microbiology, Clinical Chemistry and Histopathology.

We offer a wide range of diagnostic testing to help improve overall human health and ensure that testing is being completed in accordance with quality standards.

We serve patients of all populations. The laboratory is open for 24 hours, 7 days a week

The services offered are:

BIOCHEMISTRY

Random blood sugar, Fasting blood sugar, 2 hours post prandial(2HPP), Oral glucose tolerance test, Electrolytes/urea/creatinine, Liver function test, fasting lipid profile, Glycated Haemoglobin/HbA1c, serum bilirubin (total and conjugated), uric acid, 24 hour creatinine clearance, liver function test, liver enzymes (alkaline phosphate ALP, Aspartate amino transferase AST, Alanine aminotransferase ALT), Cerebrospinal fluid analysis, Prostatic Specific Antigen, Thyroid function test, D-dimer and CD4 count

 

HAEMATOLOGY AND BLOOD BANKING:

Blood group typing, cross matching, packed cell volume (PCV), full blood counts (FBC), peripheral blood film,  estimated sedimentation rate (ESR), coombs test (direct & indirect), genotype, HIV I/II, Hepatitis B (HbSAg), hepatitis C (HCV), Syphilis (VDRL)

MICROBIOLOGY (BACTERIOLOGY AND PARASITOLOGY)

Microbiology, Culture & Sensitivity of urine, stool, sputum, seminal fluid , urine, wound swab, endocervical swab and high vaginal swab; stool for ova & parasite, stool for occult blood, seminal fluid analysis, urinalysis, mantoux test, malaria parasite, pregnancy test, Widal reaction, Helicobacter pylori test, skin snip for microfilaria, sputum AFB,

 

HISTOPATHOLOGY  

Pap smear, fine needle aspiration for cytology, histology
